We Are All Together Again...

This week we met at Mary's house in Long Beach.  We were all working on different projects.  April's daughter, Amber joined us for the day.  She has been working in Dutch Harbor, AK as a teacher and home for the summer.  April and Amber have just returned from an 11 day camping adventure.  It was fun to hear their stories of camping and car rescue.  There was so much laughing going on that some of us had tears coming down our faces.  It doesn't get any better than this!

Below is a card that Pinky made while we were all visiting.  She used two special punches to make the disks and then proceeded to use metallic thread to wind around each peak to form the design.  This is really striking and makes a beautiful card.  Pink, you just get better and better at this.

Below is a new flag April is making for someone in her Bible study.  She has been learning new lettering techniques and the use of bright color and these just turn out amazing...
Next, is Amber's hands putting together a beautiful beaded bracelet in every color under the sun.  She said the colors reminded her of the bright colors you see in African crafts and clothing.  She would like to go there some day on a mission trip.
Jan was working on inchies...little creations of art that are only one inch by one inch.  She gave each of us one when she was done.  She was quietly creating while we were all yacking...
Karen was working on her art journal.  She is just loving this.  Each page is unique and full of color.  Sometimes she goes back and adds more to a page later.  She does a bit of writing in it also.  She was telling us that she works on it almost every day.
Mary was working on carving rubber stamps.  They are made on Speedball Speedycut blocks.  Her favorites were a fox and a raven.  They will make great cards, tags, wrapping paper, and who knows...
Jan, if you have any other pictures you would like to add, please go ahead.  It was a very fun day and went way too fast.  It was just so good to be together again and have our laughing fix.  This group is better than therapy :>))  See you next time!

Ocean Park Tuesday At Pink's...

I had more written down, but just realized Jan and I were posting at the same time, so went ahead and erased it.

This was a very fun project and stretched us a bit creatively...

As usual, just fun to see what everyone came up with. It might be fun to trade stamps and stamp some paper with each and return them...

Monday, we are all meeting in Astoria for Karen's birthday bash! Can't wait!!! She gets to pick where we go and where we get to eat lunch...fun!

Happy Birthday Pinky!!! And Many More...

Today, we not only had fun working on alcohol inks, but we celebrated Pinky's birthday! What a haul this woman made!!! She received lots of scrapbooking supplies, dishes, a beautiful pot (lime green, of course) to put a plant in,...you name it, she got it! It was fun to watch her open all her goodies. Most of us garage sale and find some great things during the year for birthday...very fun.

A Few More From Last Week...

Jan added a picture of the card Karen made from the images that April gifted us all with. Karen will make a card out of anything you give her, right there on the spot.
The pics below are:
#1 Mary's attempt at making some cotton crochet wash cloths...

#2 Jan's handmade stamps...very coooool.

#3 Pinky's latest iris folding card made from the insides of security envelopes.

#4 Jan's personal journal that she is making pages for.

#5 April's Alaska joural pages. I think she said day 5.

I'm sorry, Karen...I thought for sure I took a pic of the cute card you made from the game cards April gave us all. It was so cute and apparently I missed it. Jan, if you have that pic, would you put it on? Sorry, Karen!

It appears we can't meet this week 9-13-11 as situations arise...We are all hoping to meet Friday at the Vernonia Quilt Show and do a bit of garage saling. Hope to see you then!

A Little Late...But Here I am!

Last Tues., we had a wonderful day with all of us together. Karen has been a little "under the weather", so it was a happy day to have us all in one place. We met at Jan's studio. She has done some major organizing in there and it looks so nice. She made us her special muffins and some great dip for lunch time. April brought us a whole bag of goodies to go through and take home. That is so fun when we all share things we find. Right away, Karen made the cutest card out of the cards April gave us.

We passed out our calendars as we had decided to make each other calendars again this year. Each of us will do 2-3 pages on the calendars and then rotate them to the next person. We have done this for a couple of years now and all of us really enjoy the results and get to have them on our walls for a year. Since Lyla doesn't live in either Jewell or Longbeach Peninsula, we will be mailing hers back and forth to put in the different calendars. We are so glad she wanted to do it with us this year!

Mary brought the travelling doll, Sara, from the Mary Jane's Farm barter group. She had just been to Alabama and will be heading to Kentucky when she leaves Long Beach. Along the way, people have added to her wardrobe and sent souvenirs with her. While in Long Beach, she added a small glass float, a new knitted cap for colder days ahead, and seeds that she helped Mary get from the garden. Pinky, especially enjoyed getting Sara ready for her trip to Kentucky in her cowgirl outfit. Pinky always did like to play with dolls when she was little :>))

Mary Was Being Sneaky...

I hope no one realized I was working on my post cards :>)) They have to be mailed by the 20th, so I needed to get on the stick! I did do a couple cards to try and fool 'em. I'm enclosing a pic of a thank you card.

Lyla's Books Came!!!! Yea!

I am just showing you a few of the pages from Lyla's altered books. She can put the neatest combination of goodies on a page to make it just shine. All of us were so thrilled with the books that we ordered. They are wonderful!

Pic #1 Page from Lyla's book with raven.

Pic #2 Another page from a different book. I'm just trying to give you an idea of what she does...amazing!

Pic #3 This is the book Mary chose. It has a Fox theme...how coooool is that???

Pic #4 Another couple of pages from Mary's book.

Pic #5 Jan's heart rag rug that I absently left off of the previous post. This one looks hard to me, but she makes it look easy...

TUESDAY IS OUR FAVORITE DAY!!!!

It seemed like a 100 years since we have all been together. Snowy days and icy roads, flat tires, and other conditions prevented us from meeting at Pinky's for several weeks. It was just so nice to be together again. As usual, there was lots of laughing going on. I have to tell you that sometimes I laugh so hard, I cry! When they (whoever they are...)say laughter is the best medicine, they are soooo right! On Tuesdays my blood pressure always behaves itself :>)) It was just so good to be together, working on projects, and just laughing. You couldn't have asked for a better day.

Pinky made us a lovely lunch and even put the leafs in her table so we could really spread out.

The pictures I am including this time are of April's cards she was working on, Karen's cards she was making, Jan's friendship bracelet (which we are hoping she will show us how to do one of these days), Pinky's newest iris folding cards, and Mary's cards. The card makers were on a roll for sure!

Missed Some...:>))

I wanted to enclose this pic of Pink's studio. She has her card making supplies organized and you can see she has things out to work on cards constantly. I think she is hoping her new house will have a room just for her work...me too! She has found her passion...card making.

Tuesday At Pinky's...

We were so sorry that a series of events prevented the other three from making it to the peninsula on Tues. Pinky and I trudged forward, however, and had a really fun day! Pinky made me the yummiest ham and cheese sandwich and a hot cup of tea. We both worked on cards and were surprised at how much we got done.

The pics below show Pinky's tea bag folding cards. They turned out just beautiful! She makes these look so easy, but I KNOW they aren't.

I worked on an anniversary card for Matt and Jessi. Can you believe it is 4 years??? I also made a couple cards for friends and some spares. It was a very fun day.

Valentine ATC Exchange...

We did an annual Valentine ATC Exchange today...very fun! The neat part, this year is that Karen's sister, Lyla joined us. She made us each an ATC to trade. Thank you, Lyla! We all loved your ATCs.

#1 Pinky's ATCs
#2 Jan's ATCs
#3 Karen's ATCs
#4 Lyla's ATCs
#5 April's ATCs

All of these were just totally amazing. Each of us are so different in what we make and that always makes it fun to see what we come up with.
