Glittery Shells For Christmas...

Today, Sharon Esch joined us again and gave us a little workshop in glitzing up shells for Christmas tie ons or ornaments. It was fun to do. We found that the lighter glitter seems to work a little better so you could still see the shape of the shells and the details on them.

Sharon's husband, David, drilled holes in a bunch of shells for us to use...Thank you David! She brought ribbon, glitter, glue, beads, and supplies for us to use. Mary had shells here too and more ribbon, etc., so we had more than enough supplies to work with.

A Birthday Present for Us????? Thanks Jan!

This remarkable birthday girl made us each a wonderful beaded brooch for HER birthday!!! I am enclosing pics. Double click to see the detail. These are fantastic! The Purple with dragon fly is, of course, for April. The Yellow with llama is for Joan. The Pink with shell is for Pinky. The Blue with various cowboy embellishment is for Karen. The red with sunshine is for Mary.

Each is a pin and will be treasured by all of us.

Mary's Little Book and Cards...

Mary said: I finally finished my little book and will be sending it to my friend, Karen, in Mosier, Oregon. Each of the little pockets of the book contain a tag or inchie or? There are many surprises in the pages. I tied some colorful fibers to tiny shells and beads for the finishing touch.

When I finished with the book, I worked on two cards, so it was a pretty productive time.

Clear Rolling Pin With Shells...

I found a clear glass rolling pin in a garage sale for one dollar and put about an inch of genuine Long Beach Peninsula sand inside. I then went through my basket of shells and found any that would fit inside...also some tiny rocks and pieces of drift wood. The neat part about this shell container is that you can just roll it a bit and have a whole different scene...soooooo cooooool! Since then, I have found a pink clear one and another clear one to fill. Haven't done those yet, but will. I love reusing items to make something completely different.
