WELCOME KATE!

We had so much fun welcoming Kate to our Orange Tuesday at Jan's. I met Kate at the showing Jan had last Saturday at the Blue Nutria in Clatskanie. Kate lives in Clatskanie. Kate does some wonderful work with felting...beautiful color combinations. She makes hats also. I didn't get to take a pic of her display, so Jan...if you are reading this...maybe you could post the pic you took of her beautiful display.

Kate was working on a rug while visiting with us. It was made of different colored fleece and was so cozy looking, It will be a beautiful addition to her home. We all really enjoyed visiting with her and learning how she ended up in this part of OR after living in eastern Oregon for many years. Jan let her have a go at using her needle felting machine. I'm thinking she is probably wanting one of those :>))

It was a great Tuesday and fun to have a new visitor.

Jan's Art Showing...

On Saturday, Jan had a showing of her art at the Blue Nutria in Clatskanie, Oregon. She was one of about 10 (mostly local) artists present. She had her art backed with black and it just made them pop. Each piece is a little treasure in itself. April and Karen visited her first...earlier in the day. Kit and I came about 3:30 after Jessi and Matt had taken me for a mother's day lunch. Jan's display was perfect! She is even inviting one of the artists to visit us on Tuesday. We will be looking forward to that. She is the same artist that created the beautiful needle felted scarf and cuffs that Jan wears. Jan was able to sell one of Lyla's altered books, so that will put a smile on Lyla's face for sure.

Jan made the neatest business cards to have at the showing. It had all her info on one side and a little piece of art on the other...so unique.

The one piece of art I took a pic of is so bright and beautiful. I love it! If you double click on the pic of Jan, you can see the other pieces she brought to sell. She also brought a wall quilt with her. It was a wonderful display.

We Tried Crocheting a Rag Rug...Fun!

April and Jan had taken a class to make crocheted rag rugs and helped us all get started on one of our own. It is really different than working with yard, but very fun.

Pic #1 & 2 Jan is showing us her new needle felting machine. As you can see...it is very light. Jan used her regular machine to sew together the strips that Pinky was using to start her rug. Pinky, April, and Mary helped rip the sheets to make the strips.

Pic #3 is of Jan and Karen trying to get serious about starting their projects. Note that Karen is not crocheting!...I think she likes that as much as I like knitting socks :>))

Pic #4 is of April's circle rug in 3 colors. It just looks fantastic. She tells us it takes ripping two - three sheets to make a full rug...more if you want it really big. I think hers looks great! I thought I had the pic of Jan's heart shaped one on her, but see it didn't get posted. I will try to put it on the next post.

Pic #5 is April teaching Pink how to crochet. The rest of us had done some, but I sure needed some refreshing and Pinky was just learning. She was doing fantastic!

As usual, it was a fun day together. You couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of friends.
