Before Halloween @Jan's

Halloween ATC's (Artist Trading Cards) by Jan.  Sorry that Pinky and Mary weren't able to make it, they will get theirs next week.

April was embroidering a quilt block that will be part of a gift quilt for her cousin who is getting married. That might not be the exact story, but it is something like that.   It is lovely, April does exquisite embroidery.

Karen was working in her personal journal book.  She says it is such a relaxing activity for her.  It is super cool.  Lots of nature inspired imagery.

Joan is knitting herself a hat that will be felted down.  If she ever finishes it;-) Notice our mascot Rocky snoozing in the background?
More pages from Karen's journal.

It was another fun day even though it poured down rain and April had to leave too soon.  Karen and Joan stayed until nearly 4pm and we sat talking.  Chain saw man came down and brought fresh salsa for them to take home.  He makes the best salsa around.

Next week we will be meeting at Joan's to celebrate Pinky's birthday!  We will also trade our Round Robin calendars and reveal our altered cigar boxes.  Should be fun!!  Hope you all have a safe and fun Halloween!!

Tuesday at Karen's...

We had such a wonderful day at Karen's house. I just love her place...she has it all decorated western and sooooo neat!

I had to show you a lot of what goes on those Tuesdays...Take a look at this plate. Karen served us the most yummy lunch. Sometimes we take our lunches and sometimes we get special treats like this!

Jan started a new project with beautiful blue beads with a sparkle of gold thrown in for good measure. As you can see, she's only just begun, so it will be exciting to see how she finishes it up. She is stitching on a piece of felt.

I feel really lame today as on Tuesday I didn't take my usual pics and really don't have much to share with you today. I think I was on jetlag from the trip Pinky and I took with our girls to Depoe Bay.

If anyone else has some pics to post from last week...go for it!

All I have here is some cards I started and some pieces of the calendar I am doing for Karen.

Jan gave us all 4 glue sticks that she got a good buy on. She knows we will put them to good use. Thanks, Jan!

HAPPY TRAILS!

ps...note I put the food on two times. What does that tell you??????

PINK TUESDAY...

I was working on some things for my calendar trade off, a birthday card for my daughter, some tags, and some just generally goofing around :>))

On Jessi's BD card I used pieces of what might have been an old scrabble game or something similar that I found at a garage sale...before they were wood. These are kind of a tag board. I lightly pressed them into distressed ink for the antiqued look.

April started a new beading project. She used buttons and a silk flower to start and is starting to embellish with her beading. I believe she based it all on felt. Can't wait to see what it looks like when she is done.

Jan started the most beautiful peyote stitch bead by doing the peyote stitch around a tooth pick. Once she had the length she desired, she started adding depth to it as you can see by the added beads. I used this pic so you you could see both processes...wonderful!

Pinky was working on some Christmas iris folding cards today. She does an amazing job on these. She tries to find oragami paper to use for the folding as it is very thin and folds nicely. As we were almost done, she was making a swag out of punched leaves that turned out wonderful. She is going to try a wreath out of the same punch.

I put Karen's Halloween cards on top because we are getting closer to it. Aren't they neat? She loves crows and ravens and these are so perfect for Halloween. It is fun to watch her start and finish a card or ATC. She uses everything she finds to add to her work. One of Pinky's halloween napkins disappeared, so we may see it soon on a card or ATC :>))

A Few More From Last Week...

Jan did such a wonderful job of posting last week, so I will just add a few pics. She already told what we were doing, etc. As usual, it was a wonderful day...

I will add that the ATC shown is from a trade that Jan arranged with a friend of hers, Lorna. We each made an ATC to trade with her and this is the one she sent. The picture shown is Butterfly 3.

The big pile in the lower pic is roving that Cathy brought for us all to share....Thank you so much, Cathy. We enjoyed our day with her.

April's Bead work

April caught the beading bug from me. Look at these wonderful creations she has made! I love the beaded flower, shown in more detail below. She used a paper crafting flower in the center, and beaded around it. I love the shape.
Below you can see the other interesting pieces she made. That first heart she made is terrific, and the round shape is wonderful.
We had a guest visitor last week when we met at April's. This is Cathy, who went to high school with April and Jan. That was a year or two ago;-) but April and Cathy stayed in contact and I'm glad. Cathy is a great gal, very creative in her own right. She brought some knitting to work on. If you noticed all the flowers behind her, those are bouquets that April made for all of us to take home, she picked them all from her garden. They are so gorgeous! She is so generous! Thanks April!
