Gang's All Here!

We all went to the Vernonia Quilt Fair.  It was a lot of fun, the quilts were beautiful, the lunch was delicious.  We had hoped to find more garage sales but there were only a couple.  Still, we had a blast together, as always!

I thought I would show a few more photos of the masking fluid workshop we had earlier this week.  Above is Mary's cat, she is still applying the fluid using a toothpick.

Now she is beginning to paint it after the masking fluid is all applied and dried.

Now the painting is finished and dried and she is beginning to remove the masking fluid.  It is very easy to remove, just rolls right off.

After all the dried masking fluid is removed, she drew around all the white areas that were left behind with a fine black marker to enhance the white.  Notice the little mouse in the kitty paws?
Hope you enjoyed the almost tutorial.  Thanks to April for sharing the technique with us!  I loved it!

St. Mary's Quilt show and Garage saling

Four members of the S&B group met at the nearby small town quilt show and sale. The quilts are all amazing and also amazingly inexpensive. Some are brand new and some, like the ones pictured below, are vintage.

Above you see the postage stamp quilt, all hand stitched. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

This was one of my favorite art quilts on display. Gorgeous free motion machine stitching and I'm sure it is hand painted.

Very striking!

Here Pinky is holding out a cute Dr. Suess Grinch quilt.

This was another favorite of mine. Great use of a lovely bird print.

After we finished at the quilt show we went garage saling. The town always has a big garage sale weekend in conjunction with the quilt show. We made a day of it and had a lot of fun.

A Few More From Last Week...

Jan added a picture of the card Karen made from the images that April gifted us all with. Karen will make a card out of anything you give her, right there on the spot.
The pics below are:
#1 Mary's attempt at making some cotton crochet wash cloths...

#2 Jan's handmade stamps...very coooool.

#3 Pinky's latest iris folding card made from the insides of security envelopes.

#4 Jan's personal journal that she is making pages for.

#5 April's Alaska joural pages. I think she said day 5.

I'm sorry, Karen...I thought for sure I took a pic of the cute card you made from the game cards April gave us all. It was so cute and apparently I missed it. Jan, if you have that pic, would you put it on? Sorry, Karen!

It appears we can't meet this week 9-13-11 as situations arise...We are all hoping to meet Friday at the Vernonia Quilt Show and do a bit of garage saling. Hope to see you then!

St. Mary's Quilt show

April, Jan, Joan, Bonnie, (aka Peninsula Patti, Pinky) and Mary all made it to the 40th annual St. Mary's Catholic Church Quilt show and sale.  Unfortunately Karen wasn't able to make it.

Here are Mary and Pinky perusing the quilts.  All of these are for sale and range in price from $50 to $3000. They are all beautiful.  If ever you are in the market for a quilt, this is a great place to purchase one.  Come early for best selection.  The batik quilt below was a lovely lap quilt for only $50.  I almost bought it myself.
This next one was a beautiful  example of using a bird print to great effect.

Here are two of the ladies who help put this show on.  Notice the old fashioned raffle coupon basket nearby.   Maybe I will win the quilt some day.

This was a gorgeous hand stitched display quilt.   Of course I had to get a picture of it.
They also serve a delicious lunch so we all partook of that.  It was another fun outing for our group.  We did miss Karen though, hopefully she will be able to come next year.

A milestone has been reached in our group blog,  This is our 200th post!  Yippeee!!
