A Painting We Will Go.....On Karen's Deck!

What a fun day!  Monday, Jan brought all kinds of beautiful colors in spray bottles and shared them with us. April gave us each a little watercolor tablet and we went to town.  There was lots going on...some of us were just spraying paint, others were using stencils, others were laying down items and spraying over the top...each doing their own thing.  It was so fun!  Yes, we had paint from one end of the table to the other.  Someone even got a little on the deck...wonder who...

The pictures below are of various things we all did.  Forgive me, but I really lost track of what was who's.  I think you will just enjoy looking at them.

There are three different colored stencils used on these pages...
The red was really a big splash and fun to use.
Jan is telling us about her paints and giving us some suggestions...
April gave us each a neat little water color pad to do some painting on.  Thank you, April.
Jan brought lots of spray bottles with her with various colors.  She even did purple and teal for April .
Karen put her flags up in her studio.  Doesn't she have the most wonderful view to create by?
We are ready to dive in and get creative.  Once we got going...there was no stopping us.
There's that red splash again...what fun!
We all agreed the one on the right looks like a perfect tree...
Oooooh...More red splash.  Blowing on it produced such a neat effect.
There was one blue spray bottle and one purple that made circles when we sprayed...love it!
Below is where we dried our papers in the sun.  Worked great...

No denying these are April's...tell tale sign is the teal and purple, leaves and dragon flies...
Can you see the bird on this one?

When I was putting the pics on, I had a bit of trouble at first and duplicated two...sorry.
The red ink Jan provided came out in a big splash, but was fun to work with...

We are meeting at April's next week.  Jan won't be with us and we will miss her, but must charge ahead!  I think it is a free for all day unless April has something in mind.  We all are supposed to be working on ATCs made out of the paper we did this week.  That should be so fun to do.  We will exchange them on Jan's birthday bash...coming sooooon.  See you next week!

Tuesday at Pinky's...

These are five of the calendar pages we did for each other. You can double click to see the detail.

I think it is true of all of us...we love the pages we get for our calendars. #1 is Pinky's for Lyla, #2 is Mary's for Karen, #3 is Karen's for Pinky, #4 Jan's for Mary, and #5 is Lyla's for April. I sure hope I got this right, as I think I got these a bit mixed up when jotting them down.

I have lots more pics and will just put them on here so you can see.

Next week, we are to meet at Karen's for some alcohol ink painting fun...see you there!

Tuesday at April's...

Kathy Otto joined us today (Tuesday) for the day. It is always good to see her and see what she has been up to. She worked on crocheted hats today and showed us a beautiful painting she did of dancing shoes. It looked like a photo. It was so clear. I can't post a pic here as she had it on her camera for us to see.

Amber, April's daughter, was with us today and was also working on a calender for Alaska. We always enjoy it when she can join us.

The following are pics of all of us doing various projects. Pinky has started her 2nd rag run in greens and tans, Karen was working on altered books and cards, Jan was tearing strips for her next rug, April was working on a journal for her Alaska trip, & Mary was working on strips for another rug.

April shared lots of goodies with us that she found at a garage sale. She found beautiful cards at the Sister's quilt show and shared those with us also. Kathy brought several things to share with us also. That is one really neat thing about this group. If we find something coooool, we share it with each other.

We celebrated our friend, Cathy's, birthday on Tuesday complete with gifts and lighted cupcake.
Cathy comes all the way from Portland to visit with our group. We all enjoy it when she pops in. We had asked Cathy to bring some of her paintings for us to see and was so taken by the ones she did of memories. We all thoroughly enjoyed seeing them and look forward to seeing more in the future. You can double click to see more detail on them.

The Calendars Are Done!

We had our final unveiling of our calendars on Tuesday and it was so fun to see the next phase. The best part was that we got take them home with us! The cowboy themed one was done by Pinky for Karen. The quote about loving animals was Mary's for Jan. Karen is holding a page she did for Mary's calendar. April is showing a Feb. page for Pinky that was all in pinks, of course... Jan shows a page she did for April's calendar. This was a fun project and one that seems to be an annual event now.

New Name????

Just something to think about...Are we ready for a new name for our group? We were called S & B...Stitch and B____. You guessed it. As it happens, we have evolved into not only a stitching group, but a mixed media, beading, scrapbooking, painting, etc. etc. group. Can we have some new suggestions for a new name or do we even think that is necessary? Give me some input, OK?

Post card at the right is made by April Wood

Last Few Pics of Flag Book Making...

I wanted to show you here, the cute little dog Jan painted. Isn't it fun? I love all the bright colors.

Mary said: In order to see all the pics of flag book making, scroll down the next few posts as I could only put 5 pics in each post. Keep going down...:>))

PURPLE TUESDAY... :>))

Mary said: Tuesday was renamed Purple Tuesday when it is at April's. That is a very FAVORITE color of hers, so very appropriate. Jan was good enough to guide us through making a Flag Book. It is a neat little book (if you scroll down to the older post, you will see Jan's finished one) that you can put ATCs in, pictures, photos, collections of small things, etc...very coooool. In the pictures you will see the steps we took to work on them. Interesting how several people can work on the same project and they all have different personalities in their work. I love that! I could only put on 5 pics here, so continuing above..
